The Riven Twins Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for The Riven Twins:

  • Recommended Weapons: TBA
  • Recommended Items: TBA

This can be a difficult fight if you come unprepared and under-leveled, so it's recommended that you explore and do multiple Side Quests first before tackling and progressing the Quest, Servant of God. The twins will have a similar move set to lesser Enemies you've come across thus far who also wield large poles as their weapon of choice. They will try and control the environment or limit your movement in some way to capitalize on their wide range of attacks.

Similar to the smaller Enemies we just mentioned, they'll prominently use their sweeping attacks. Use your dodge frames to not get hit by these and press your dodge button at the right time. If you're not confident, you can always dodge away enough to get out of their range, but ideally, you want to be able to dodge toward them perfectly and then counterattack. When you're closer to them, they'll use attacks with shorter ranges like stabbing the pole into the ground or horizontally slamming it into the ground. These are easy to dodge due to them just generally being slow. Dodge to either side and then counterattack.

When you're farther away, they will use their sweeping attacks again. They can also try to reach you by slamming their pole vertically into the ground a few times, which isn't too difficult to dodge either. They can also throw balls of pestilence toward you. These attacks are highly telegraphed and should be taken advantage of for counterattacks. The only attack combo that they'll be locking themselves into consists of a chain of swings that make use of their pole. Note that they'll be inching closer to you with each attack, so dodge at the right time and to the right spots. Don't rest on your laurels when they slam their pole vertically as they'll actually do an additional sweep of their pole to end the combo.

Eventually, they'll get frustrated and start to do things like create pestilence blisters on the ground that will explore after a few seconds. They'll do this a couple of times before stopping, so you'll need to try and make sure to move away first in the farther corners of the battlefield to spread the blisters out. This is important because these spots where the blisters explode on will stay for a period of time and will damage you when you step on them, so it's in your best interest to lure them out. This is also an attempt by the twins to limit your movement as they use their wide range to overpower you.

When they start heaving their pole upward in the latter stages of the fight, put as much distance as you can between you to avoid a potential Earth Tremor attack. They'll consecutively stab their pole into the ground. Each time, earth shards will come out of the ground, appearing in ripples away from the spot that they stab. Once you get a good grasp of the timing, you can try and perfectly dodge each time to get some hits in, if you're confident.

The most devastating attack they have at this point can be hard to spot and will get you if you're not careful about your combos and you find yourself combo-locked. The twins will grab you with their left arm. If they successfully are able to get you, they'll proceed to pound you against the floor numerous times before throwing you with a strong force right back onto the ground. If you're not careful, they can catch you mid-combo and you won't be able to dodge out of the subtle grab, so be patient whenever you deal your counterattacks. Dish out some damage whenever you can, but keep in mind the range of their attacks at all times, and you should be able to come out of the fight alive eventually.

The Riven Twins Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Pestilence Ball The twins reach inside of them for a ball of blue energy before throwing it at you at moderate speed. Dodge out of the way.
Ground Sweep The twins use their large pole to sweep the ground in front of them. Sometimes they will deceptively take a short step forward as they do this to make the range of the attack even bigger and then continue into a second and third sweep. Dodge away or toward the twins.
Pole Slam The twins slam their poles down to the ground in front of them thrice. Dodge out of the way and then move toward them.
Bowing Slam The twins bow down as they slam their pole horizontally on the ground directly in front of them. Dodge away from them.
Pole Stab The twins heave before they stab their pole in the ground in front of them. They will sometimes do this after kicking you away. Dodge away from them.
Pole Mastery

The twins twirl as they swing their pole around three times and then smash it into aground, finishing off with yet another sweep away. They do this attack chain while inching closer to your direction.

Dodge away from them and keep your distance.
Pestilence Blisters

The twins roar and hit one of their heads on their pole in frustration before slamming the ground. As they do, blisters will form at your current location which will explore after a few seconds. They do this for a few consecutive times. These pestilence spots stay behind for a period of time.

Dodge away from the blisters and move toward them. Keep away from the affected areas.
Earth Tremors

The twins heave their pole upward before slamming it into the ground a few times, causing stones to erect from the ground outwards from the spot that they're slamming each time.

Dodge at the right time and keep your distance.
Grab and Pound

The twins grab you with one hand and then pound you to the ground a couple of times before throwing you into the ground for massive damage.

Dodge away at the right time.
