Echo Knight Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for Echo Knight:

The Echo Knight can be a difficult hurdle to get through if you're not too patient. This boss' large stature can prove difficult for some to find windows of opportunity to attack with. Nevertheless, with enough care, you'll be able to defeat this one just like any other bosses you've defeated before.

Right off the bat, the knight will either throw some orbs of pestilence at you or just bum-rush you with his steed. Be patient and dodge at the right times. If he's throwing the orbs, try to dodge toward him on either side. After the fourth orb, you'll be able to dish a little bit of damage back. Whenever he does his rush attack, he'll turn around to recover and you may get hit by the lance as he does, so don't rush in blindly after dodging it.

When you get too close for his comfort, he'll either stab at you quickly twice or try to trample you underfoot. The stabs can be easy to dodge just because of how fast they are, but they don't do as much damage as anything else in his move set. If you get hit with the first stab, just quickly dodge out of the way of the second. When he tries to stomp you, you'll have plenty of time to dodge away. However, be patient with counterattacking as he sometimes tries to stomp you again for a few consecutive times. It's easy to get locked into the animation of trying to get up when you get hit by this stomp once. If he does get you the first time, don't panic and dodge right before he tries to stomp you again or you'll keep getting locked into the attack and take a lot of damage.

When you're too far, he'll either close the distance with another rush or start making the ground beneath you burst into blue flames. When he does the latter, just dodge out of the way. The blue flames will stay for a period of time and will hurt you whenever you touch it, so make sure you use his targeting to your advantage. When you dodge out of the flames, you can either scatter them in the outermost areas of the battlefield so you don't limit your space as much when you continue the fight afterward, or huddle the flames together in a small pocket so you can easily avoid them later on.

Throughout the fight, he can also just simply swipe in front of him with his lance. This attack is pretty quick so keep it in mind whenever you decide to lock yourself into a combo or a charged attack animation. When his health gets low, the frequency of all his attacks can increase so you'll have to be even more patient. He can shoot more purple balls a few more times, stomp at you a few more times, and create more Blue Blazes in succession.

The Echo Knight Unmounted

When you deplete his health bar, he'll get off his horse and fight you by himself this time unmounted. He'll have a couple of new moves and full health to boot. He'll be much quicker in this form and more relentless. He'll also have a smaller body in comparison to when he was mounted, so the hitbox for dealing damage to him is much smaller. Getting hit by his attacks will now build up poison so keep that in mind and watch the build-up bar under your health.

His rush is now a dash that may include an additional swing from his sword, so don't rest on your laurels after dodging the charge. Most of his attacks now will happen a few consecutive times - at least three times, so keep your distance or keep dodging until he finishes attacking before you start your own counterattack. This includes his basic sword sings, stabs, and when he fires pestilence balls in succession.

His two new bread-and-butter attacks are his Swing and Shoot and Shoot and Swing. The former will have him slash his sword twice while firing a pestilence ball on the second swing. When you dodge the first swing, make sure you're not just rolling away in one direction as the pestilence ball will come shooting straight at you. Make sure to roll to the side after dodging the sword swing. Shoot and Swing will have him jump and shoot a pestilence ball in your direction first and then do a leaping swing upwards. This can be difficult to dodge sometimes because of how the perception can be confusing when he jumps from the ground in the isometric viewpoint. Nevertheless, just dodge at the right time and then dodge the uppercut. If you dodge to either side successfully, you'll have a few moments to dish out some damage.

Arguably his strongest new attack happens when he stabs the ground with his sword. The first time he does, he creates blue flames in a small circle around him. The second stab shakes the entire battlefield. The third time erects stones from the ground in a much larger circle around him, while shaking an even larger circle. Dodge away from him to get away from the blue flames. When he shakes the earth at the second stab, you'll have to make use of your dodge frames to avoid any damage. The whole battlefield will be shaken so you'll have to dodge it with perfect timing to avoid the hit. For the third stab, just make sure you're as far away as you can from him and you should be able to avoid any damage.

After this attack, he'll likely blink to where you are after a few moments due to how far you are from him, and then swing at you with his sword. Be patient and dodge at the right time. Despite the huge power-up, the strategy will remain the same: patience is key to this fight. Get some hits in only when it's safe and you'll eventually be able to defeat him.
