Each Weapon has its own unique Rune attached to it, which means each Weapon will have its own unique skill that players can use. Eventually, players will be able to extract these Runes and then attach them to other Weapons.
This creates a deeper layer of character customization for the players. For example, they may prefer the move set of a certain Weapon, but also prefer the weapon skill of a different one. They can simply extract that Rune from the other weapon and attach it to the one they want to be using most of the time.
The developers of the game have mentioned having this system of randomized loot, as well as this deeply customizable Runes system as their way of allowing players to essentially create their own Classes for their characters, and for them to not be bound by a certain Class through the entirety of their playthrough.
