Falstead Darak Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for Falstead Darak:

  • Recommended Weapons: TBA
  • Recommended Items: TBA

Falstead Darak doesn't have a large pool of attacks so he'll be easy to defeat the first time around. A few of his attacks are telegraphed and he'll be locked into his combos a lot of the time before becoming immobile for a few short seconds. The only tricky thing is that he sometimes adds a hit or two to his combos so you have to be patient and let him finish all his attacks before going in.

When the fight starts, he'll likely do a Sword Slam or a Running Sword Slam so just do a quick dodge to either side before dishing out some damage. Note that whenever he does do a Sword Slam, he might do an additional swing of his large sword so make sure to wait a little bit before rushing in. His two long combos are Friendzied Pounds and Strong-arm Swings. Both attacks are telegraphed - the former by a large wind-up and the latter by a yell. You'll have plenty of time to create some distance after seeing these telegraphs. Remember to wait for him to finish swinging and don't be impatient. He'll be locked into the combo so if you're quick enough you can even land a few hits here and there while dodging if you have enough stamina. After either of these attack chains, he'll be immobile for a few seconds so you can do some chains of your own.

The last in his pool of attacks will have him shove you with his knee before slamming his large shield on the ground in an attempt to crush you. Sometimes he'll instead swing his shield before slamming it into the ground, so make sure not to rush in immediately if you see either attack. He'll likely do this any time you're a bit too close to his liking. As mentioned previously, be careful with counterattacking after his shield bash because he can do successive shield bashes afterward to catch you off guard. Keep your distance and be patient.

At about 25% health, he'll be too beat up to continue fighting and run away. You'll have another go at him later on, don't worry.

Rematch at The Black Trench

The second time around won't be too much different initially. Just make sure you have enough stamina to dodge his tricky attack chains and additional hits. Anytime he charges at you, you can also hit him with a projectile or any long-range attack and it will render him immobile for a few short seconds, similar to what happens after he does one of his long attack chains. After you deplete his health, he'll succumb to the Pestilence and grow some additional tentacle appendages, as well as get all his health back.

In this new Torn form, Darak will have an even longer reach thanks to his tentacles. Dodging left and right rather than dodging away will be even more important now. Keep ample distance but not too so you can make sure you can dish back some damage. His Running Sword Slam turns into a Leaping Sword Slam. It's more telegraphed so it'll be easier to dodge. He'll likely use this if you put too much distance between you. He'll also point at you sometimes with his sword before sending his tentacles after you in a straight line. Also telegraphed, so dodge out of the way. Whenever you're too close, he'll either do some quick swipes or plant his tentacle on the ground quickly and swing upward. Just dodge away whenever this happens and you should be fine.

His trickiest attack now is one where he heaves backward, almost to the point of tipping over, before slamming all three of his tentacles on the ground in different directions. When you see him winding up for this, get close to him and then dodge toward him when he slams down to get right behind him and lay on the pain. You won't have a shield to be wary of this time around so just keep being patient and you'll bring him down eventually.
